About Us
“Canine Capital” and “Dog Grooming by Jess” is owned and operated by Jessica (Jess), Natasha (Tash), and their family, located in Newlands, Wellington.
We are proud owners of a pack of energetic Border Collies, (you can follow us on Instagram @comilocollies) and are also border collie breeders with a passion for community, people, and animals alike. Tash and Jess have 15 years of collective dog handling and industry experience. As a teenager, Jessica started working with animals and dogs, pet sitting, feeding, and walking. She has always been passionate about working breeds having spent time with her family’s collies as a youngster. Jess has completed a course in Animal Behaviour and Welfare. Naturally, her passion and enthusiasm for dogs turned into a career, and “Comilo Collies”, “Canine Capital”, and “Dog Grooming by Jess” were born.
Tash has grown up surrounded by dogs and cats her whole life, in fact, most small house pets including guinea pigs and mice. Her childhood dogs including an 80kg English Bull Mastiff and a very stubborn Staffy Bulldog cross. Tash has completed a Certificate in Animal Care (Companion Animals) and has a bachelors degree, Bachelor of Science in Animal Welfare from Massy University.
At our home-based doggy daycare, our primary focus is to make your life easier by providing your dog with a safe and happy space, in a friendly and stimulating environment whilst you are away. We are all dog lovers and understand that each dog has different needs and we pride ourselves in providing individualized high-quality care. Your dogs will be supervised, ensuring their safety and well-being. Doggy daycare is all about having a safe and fun space for dogs to play and learn.

Full body clip with scissor finishing of face, feet, and feathering or long style with hand scissoring of the body. Including hygiene clip (eyes, bottom, belly, and tail).
Bath with double shampoo and conditioning. Undercoat Removal - if necessary. Towel dry and blow-dry. Full-body brush out. Nail trimming + ear cleaning.
Additions, such as teeth brushing and anal glands can be added on request.

Inbetween/tidy groom designed to make full grooms last the extra mile with no length taken off the body coat (excluding hygiene areas).
Bath with double shampoo and condition. Towel dry and blow-dry. Hygiene Clip (eyes, bottom, belly, and tail). Feathering of the face and feet styled with footpad shave. Full-body brush out. Nail trimming + ear cleaning.

Puppy Groom
from $45
Gentle puppy groom is designed to introduce your puppy to grooming. Puppies do not need to be fully vaccinated to be groomed, however we do require them to have had at least 1 vaccination 7 days prior to their groom with us. We highly recommend getting them in for their first grooming session before 16 weeks of age. For puppies up to 5 months old.
Bath with puppy shampoo and conditioner. Towel dry and blow-dry (pup willing). Full body brush out. Nail trimming + ear cleaning

Our dog Louis is currently 5 months old, and he loves going to doggy daycare here. Under Jessica's watchful eye he happily plays with big and small dogs (as he's quite a confident wee pup). As a growing pup, Jessica also ensures he gets plenty of opportunities to rest throughout the day. The play area is warm and inviting, with furniture to jump on, toys to play with, and occasionally a paddling pool to splash around in. Dogs get great mental stimulation as well as physical. I especially like coming to the Open Play Sundays. As Louis is my first dog, I've found it very educational; learning what good play looks like so I know what to look for when we are in other settings. It's also been nice to get to know other dog owners and their families. Open play is a great time to ask questions, and share stories and experiences with one another over coffee - A perfect rainy day outing!”
